Empowerment of Buddha Amitabha

Buddha Amitabha sadhana is a very essential practice of Vajrayana. Not only it deepens spiritual insight and purifies all negative karmic stains, but also it causes rebirth in the Pure Land of Dewachen after death. This practice is often done in the intention of releasing these, who are currently in the afterdeath state of bardo.
Amitabha sadhana text is a terma revealed by a terton Minjur Dorje and it is the highest yoga tantra (anuttara-yoga-tantra). The short version of sadhana, used in daily meditation, as well as the long puja, which is usually done at the end of a retreat or occasionally as a tsok offering or as a ritual in the intention of the dead, will be explained and practiced during the course.
In order to take part in the Amitabha practice, it is necessary to receive the empowerment. It is also possible to receive this empowerment without necessarily taking part in the Phowa course.

Phowa

Attention: It is necessary to receive the empowerment of Amitabha in order to take part in the Phowa course.

Phowa is an advanced Vajrayana practice, which enables the consciousness to be transferred to the Pure Land of Buddha while dying or to gain other forms of beneficial rebirth. This enables us to quickly attain the State of Enlightenment for the benefit of all sentient beings. Rinpoche is going to give a transmission to the so-called  Namche Phowa - a special kind of Phowa of the Kagyu tradition.

To participate in the Phowa course, it is necessary to recite one hundred thousand mantras of Amitabha Buddha OM AMI DEWA HRI before the course.
While reciting the mantra, we visualize ruby-red Amitabha Buddha sitting in front of us on a throne in the sky. In his hands, which are placed in a meditative position, he is holding a begging bowl. He is dressed in monk's robes. Bodhisattva of Compassion, white, four-armed Chenrezig, wearing silk robes and jewel ornaments, is standing on a lotus and a moon disc, on the right side of Amitabha's hand. Czenrezig's two hands are joined at the heart in prayer position, in his right hand he is holding a crystal rosary and in his left a lotus. Bodhisattva of Power, blue, two-armed Vajrapani, wearing silk robes and jewel ornaments, is standing on a lotus and a moon disc, on the left side of Amitabha Buddha. Vajrapani is holding a vajra in his right hand and a bell in his left.
While repeating OM AMI DEWA HRI mantra, we concentrate on the wish to be reborn in the Pure Land of Amitabha Buddha. We direct our wishes to Buddha to bestow his blessings upon us, so that our prayers are fulfilled.
At the end of the meditation, Amitabha and the accompanying Bodhisattvas dissolve into light, which melts within us, bestowing blessings upon us.

Those who have already recited such a number of mantras before, don't necessarily have to do it again; however focusing on this practice again will surely be beneficial.

Phowa course is a kind of a meditation retreat. Four days of practice compose an integral whole. That's why it is recommended to stay for the whole course.

Teaching on the Pure Land of Dewachen

The Pure Land of Dewachen was created through prayers of Buddha Amitabha. It is easier to be reborn in the land of Dewachen, than in other Pure Lands. The teachings on Dewachen will be based on the "Long Prayer of Dewachen", which was composed by the great master of the Kagyu and Nyingma tradition, Karma Chagme Rinpoche.

Empowerment of Guru Drakpur

Rinpoche will bestow the empowerment of the wrathful form of Guru Rinpoche, known as Guru Drakpur, instead of the originally planned empowerment of the "Secret Gathering of the Great Compassionate". Empowerment of Guru Drakpur comes from Dorge Lingpa terma. In the terma text there is a prophecy that in the future there will appear new, not known before and hard to heal or even deathly diseases. Among them there are descriptions of different kinds of skin diseases, tumours and allergies. In the terma text, Guru Rinpoche explains that repeating the secret mantra, which is given during the empowerment, is an extremely effective way to defeat diseases, which can potentially be hidden in our bodies, as well as the ones that we already experience.
