All Buddha’s teachings can be divided into two classes: the sutrayana and the tantrayana. The sutras describe the gradual process of development as progressing along the five paths and thirteen stages. Qualities of all stages are included in a single vajrayana meditation session. Vajrayana practice is also known as the tantra path or tantrayana.
The lecture offers a detailed explanation on how the basic rules of the sutra and tantra paths merge in our daily practice and how the three kinds of vows are included in such a comprehensive approach. On the external level we keep ethical discipline, what corresponds to the hinayana level. On the inner level we develop loving kindness and compassion and observe the bodhisattva vows, which correspond to the mahayana level. On the most personal, secret level we practice yidam meditations and keep the secret samaya vows. This corresponds to the vajrayana level. All the levels of vows will be explained in detail.
