MynlamP HH Karmapa's special message for Kagyu Monlam Poland 2010 - see video.

With the blessing of His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, and Very Venerable Kyabje Tenga Rinpoche, Kagyu Monlam will be held in the Buddhist Centre in Grabnik on June 9-11. The event will be an extension of the annual festival in Bodhgaya, India. His Holiness Karmapa has extended his care for Kagyu Monlam in Poland.

What is the Kagyu Monlam?

The word monlam could be translated as "the path of aspiration". Tibetan mon means a wish, desire, aspiration and lam - a path. The tradition of multiple recitations of wishing prayers like "may all sentient beings enjoy happiness and the causes of happiness" has been cultivated from the beginning of Buddhism. lotos On each morning of the Kagyu Monlam we will have the possibility to take the Mahayana sojong vows. Taking these 24h vows is not necessary, however following the precepts has an effect of intensifying all recited prayers which will be fulfilled sooner and the merit accumulated from spiritual practice on that day is multiplied.
